HOOG
HOOG stands for HOop blOG!

Many who embark on a journey of wellness and health, find out all kinds of interesting bits and pieces of information. As I share information, keep in mind, I am not a professional nutritionist, fitness guru, trainer, chef or otherwise. I am an everyday person who was diagnosed with MS at age 49 and I am working to fight it's progression one day at a time. Here are the stories of my life. Maybe you'll like 'em and maybe you won't. But my hope is, someone, somewhere is googling, like I did when I was first diagnosed with MS and so desperately needed information - and here you might find a little hope. Perhaps some nugget of something, that makes the googling worth it and maybe helps to chase some fears away and get some sleep.
Welcome to my HOOG!

Movement Challenge

The Wahls Protocol Seminar is made up of many people, with many reasons for being there. One reason you might be there is because you live with MS. Here in this picture are my friends Tony Ferro and Patrick Coffey. Both have MS and both are amazing people. Tony is a health coach and created CHANGE MS. A group focused on making sure people know that MS can be treated with a healthy lifestyle. Patrick Coffey is a high school teacher and a new hula hoop fan! At the 2017 Seminar Tony's table of people started an Accountability Group post seminar. The goal of each member was to be Wahls Protocol compliant for 100 day 100%. I was already relatively compliant and joined group. I was not super focused on the 100 days, but I continued to do well. However, over the last year I have put on a few pounds and have not felt as good. When Tony mentioned the Accountability Group once again for 2018 Seminar people. I jumped at the opportunity to get myself fully compliant and have people expecting me to do it!
It was while I was talking to Patrick Coffey, a new fellow MSer, that the plan hatched to add movement to the mix. We decided on 10 minutes a day. That is a minimum requirement according to our friend from, Primal Play - Darryl Edwards. He noted that 60 minutes a week is a minimum number for exercise. But really more time is needed for great health!

As Patrick and I talked we decided that 10 minutes was a good starting place for people. The idea being, we all need to move and if you plan for 10 minutes you might actually continue your activity longer. When I am hooping I usually hoop longer! Patrick is hooping and I am taking up erging! I decided to challenge myself beyond hooping!
Interested in joining the Challenge? Join us as we journey on for 100 Days of great food and movement. We started yesterday. But jump in anytime!  Just email me that you are interested in following the 100 Days of movement!

Patrick Coffey's story will be posted Friday, Aug 15th
