Many who embark on a journey of wellness and health, find out all kinds of interesting bits and pieces of information. As I share information, keep in mind, I am not a professional nutritionist, fitness guru, trainer, chef or otherwise. I am an everyday person who was diagnosed with MS at age 49 and I am working to fight it's progression one day at a time. Here are the stories of my life. Maybe you'll like 'em and maybe you won't. But my hope is, someone, somewhere is googling, like I did when I was first diagnosed with MS and so desperately needed information - and here you might find a little hope. Perhaps some nugget of something, that makes the googling worth it and maybe helps to chase some fears away and get some sleep.

food and hoop - now that is fun!

One day as I was walking into class one of my students asked me, What do you put into that green drink of yours? We talked for a bit and I decided on the way home that I would bring in the ingredients for my smoothie and share it with my class. I was doing the class for free so, I was hoping the peeps would like the bonus food fun. They did and it went over really well. Now my Wednesday class is about hooping and food. So far I have brought in a green smoothie, a chia and flaxseed porridge, seaweed strips (not on winner, but I like them). I also brought in some packaged foods like Lara Bars and Sprouts Plantain chips .
I feel that if people have the opportunity to try something they would not make or buy maybe they will find an additional healthy food to add to their life. The Standard American Diet is so hard to get away from. I believe it is because SAD is very addictive with the amount of sugar and gluten that has been added to the foods. And it is challenging to eat healthy if you feel like you are all alone. Maybe someone just needs a few new food items on the healthy side of the diet. I want people to think that healthy foods are good and worth adding to their plate.
Because my recovery from my first significant MS attack was not just about the my hula hoop. FOOD was everything at first. I really believe that I attacked my body with GOOD FOOD and it responded so favorably. By eating good food, I lost roughly 60 lbs and have kept it off for 5 years. And I got stronger and healthier and put down the cane I was using. To be fair, then I also did 5 days of IV steroids to calm down the inflammation. With my food and mindset of movement - I was off and running. Thanks again to Dr. Terry Wahls for showing me early on in my journey how good food would be!
I am having fun sharing healthy foods with my community - Next week is either kombucha or bacon wrapped brussel  sprouts.
